Description: #FolkFest #DIFF2016 #PabanDasBaul #India The rich and melodic musical tradition of India's Bengali region is given a modern sensibility by Paban Das Baul. Born in Mohammedpur, a small village in the West Bengali district of Murshibadad, Paban Das Baul inherited his musical interests from his father. Playing dubki from the age of five, Paban Das Baul was trained by Sufi fakirs. At age 14, he was initiated by Subal Das Baul into the Bauls, a spiritual group he met at one of the festivals. In 1988, he began collaborating with Sam Mills, a London-born guitarist. Their collaboration marked one of the first fusions of Bengali music and Western pop music. An initiative of Sun Foundation; ‘Dhaka International FolkFest’ is a celebration of sheer musical brilliance where myriads of folk artistes from home and abroad perform on a single platform. বাংলার সমৃদ্ধ লোকগান আধুনিকতার ছোঁয়া পেয়েছে পবন দাস বাউলের হাত ধরে। গুণী এই শিল্পীর জন্ম পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মুর্শিদাবাদে। মাত্র ৫ বছর বয়স থেকে দুবকি বাজানো শুরু করেন পবন। ১৪ বছর বয়সে বাউল সুবল দাসের মাধ্যমে বাউল দর্শনের সাথে পরিচিতি ঘটে তাঁর। ১৯৮৮ সালে ব্রিটিশ গিটারিস্ট স্যাম মিলসের সাথে কাজ করতে গিয়ে প্রথমবারের বাংলা ফোক মিউজিক এবং ওয়েস্টার্ন পপের ফিউশন ঘটান পবন দাস বাউল। তাদের কম্পোজিশনগুলো আন্তর্জাতিক অঙ্গনে বাংলা লোকগানকে জনপ্রিয় করে তোলে। সান ফাউন্ডেশনের উদ্যোগে আয়োজিত ‘ঢাকা ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ফোকফেস্ট’ লোকসংগীতের এক মিলনমেলা। এ উৎসবে বিশ্বের নানা প্রান্তের লোকসংগীত শিল্পীদের পরিবেশনায় অসাধারণ সব লোকগান শোনার সুযোগ পায় বাংলাদেশের মানুষ। Find us on: Facebook: facebook.com/dhakainternationalfolkfest Instagram: instagram.com/dhaka.international.folkfest Web: dhakainternationalfolkfest.com
